Default Engine revving itself in neutral....

Howdy,

After driving my V6 5-speed for a bit, whenever I put it into neutral and take my foot off the clutch (say, when approaching a red light), the engine will rev up to somewhere between 1500 and 3000 rpm. It'll hang there for a few seconds, drop back down to normal (under 1000 rpm), then pop right back up. The cycle will repeat itself a few times, usually at least three. Sometimes it helps to push in the clutch, but not 100% of the time. If I push down on the accelerator while it's revved up, the rpms just climb higher.

One night I stalled it twice because when I gave it gas, the accelerator didn't respond and therefore I pulled the clutch out and stalled it. I figure something's wrong with the accelerator somewhere along the line, but I honestly have no idea.

Any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated. I just bought it used.

Thanks and Gig 'Em

Possibly a vacuum leak or EGR valve is stuck open.

Sweet. My dad took it to the dealership, but I haven't heard anything yet. I'll definitely look into it.

Thanks for your help!

If anyone else as any other suggestions, please let me know.
