Speedometer Help!!
I just put in some glow gauges in my 96 GT. After I got them in and put every thing back together the Speedometer would not work. All other gauges on the cluster work just not the Speed. Does anyone know why this could have happened? Is there a way I could fix it?
Thanks in Advance

I know virtually nothing about the 96 Mustangs, but I will assume you have a cable from your tranny that operates the speedo gear in your gauge pod. If so, then the cable needs to be turning, and the speedo gear in the tranny needs to be working. In addition, the speeedo gear in the gauge pod needs to be up to snuff. Us old classic mustangers have a way to make sure the speedo is accurate. http://www.nzmustang.com/TechData/Speedogears.htm If this is useless information, I apologize.
Well heres how to install new gauges and there is some info on not what to do, maybe you did one of those things and just double check with it........http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/whtf1.htm
I had the exact same problem in my stang (a 2000) same cluster as yours so this should help. Except my tach, and speedo wouldn't move.
First I would see if the needles are pushed to far down. There should be about 1/4 of an inch off the faces, or they lock.
Second I would check the connections in back, you may have just not plugged one in all the way. They are two plug like connectors.
Third I would check your Cluster Fuses there are two in the passenger compartment under the dash on the drivers side, and one big 40 fuse in the engine compartment. Just in case you forgot to disconnect the battery first, or left the headlight **** out when you hooked the battery back up they could have blown.
After that I don't know. I just recommend the first one first because I went through the other ones, and that was the easy solution that I overlooked, but then came back and worked like a charm.
