What advantages does a shaker hood give..

looks cool, you might get a cold air intake effect since some(most/all?) of the air will be from outside the engine bay, so it will be cooler and cold air makes more power.

yep, just like dagamore said...mostly for looks, with a little bit of performance gain.

I've got a Mach 1, and the hoop scoop is a lot of fun when you floor it to watch the shaker do its thing and shake a little. If you have the money and want a tasteful old school exterior upgrade then go for it

Makes you feel good just to look over that shaker hood and see it twitch back and forth. It is a visual feast.
