65 fastback wheels, brakes, trans, engine
I have a 65 fastback that I would like to start fixing up some. The most pressing issue is the brakes, since they don't work right now, so I'll probably start with them.
My question is does anyone know any good resources for those things listed in the thread title? I eventually want to drop a new motor in as well as change out the automatic transmission for a manual one, but those two things are down the road a bit. The more immediate needs are the brakes and wheels.
I'd like to change the drum brakes out for disc brakes and probably put some 18 or 19 inch wheels on the car. I'm basically just looking for any tips, tricks, suggestions or caveats regarding these things. Any help is appreciated.

You're going to have trouble fitting 18"s or 19"s on a 65. You will nee to do some metal work to make them fit. Wheel wells aren't that big on early stangs. Brakes can be had from anywhere bro. Whats your budget would be a better question? If you're going for big power, I would do a 4 wheel disc setup available from several companies. You really have to be specific in forums like these man. Otherwise people will be reluctant to help you.

18s or 19s you might get away with if you run a by 7 rim and low profile tires. If your going to run a rim that big look at the cobra brakes http://www.mustangsteve.com/cobrabrakes.html they are the same thing the cheap baer brakes are but cheaper. If you want a stick i would look in to a t5 swap its a 5 speed with a overdrive gear.
