Default Engine Identification

Hey! I recently bought a 67 mustang that is in need of repair. Unfortunately the dealer didn't have a clue what the engine was. Many friends say it is a 289, but one said there is a chance it could be a 302. So I am trying to figure out what one it is. Can someone please tell me where the correct code on the engine is, there are three different ones and I can not identify the right one. Thanks for reading.

What are the casting numbers you can read? If they start with c6xx or earlier it should be a 289..c7xx or c8xx could be a toss up between 289 or 302 as the assembly line was moving towards the 302..c9xx or later should be a 302..they are basically the same motor with different stroke hence the extra cubes on the 302..this is all assuming the motor is original and someone hasn't pieced together a Frankenstein motor from different years of parts.hell even the factory did this at times using parts available..depending what parts you need most should be interchangeable.
