Default Auto to Manual

Well as some of you know my tranny is slipping and is gonna need to be replaced or re built i figured since i would have it all apart i might just throw in a manual ifi its not to difficult. If i buy the manual tranny- shifter-and clutch. Do i just replace the tranny with the new one install clutch and shifter and all the wires? Is that all i need or is it alot more difficult than that. Has any one had any experience doing this and how much do you think a shop would charge? Thanks in advacne

You will need the following:Clutch pedal assl.,tranny,crossmember,t-5 drive shaft yoke, bell housing, flywheel, clucth kit, shifter, and possibly and 5 speed ECU.Also 5 spd. shifter bezel and shift boot if you want it to look ok instead of just thrown together.

My sugestion would be to just install a shift kit/stall on a rebuilt auto. Built autos are nasty.

Don't shift kits kill the tranny life though? I mean you'll be rebuilding it again in no time if you just throw a shift kit on?

shift kit can make your tranny last longer. The worst thing for an auto is slow soft shifts cause it burns the belt every time it shifts. You want it to shift hard and fast to last.If your gonna rebuild the auto I suggest you get a stall converter also cause the stock stall sucks.
