Any ideas what this could be?

The compressor is a bit noisy and might possibly need to be charged. Other then that, it's nice and cool, not perfectly cold, but comfortably cool.

Just wondering why there is a funny smell only after turning the a/c off. Usually goes away in about 5-10 minutes (or I just adjust to it XD).

Try spraying some Frigi-Fresh into the system to see if that doesn't clear it up. I just did my explorer, that was bad, but the smell was when I turned it on, then I guess it either went away or I got used to it.

Not sure where you can pick it up, I guess Auto Zone and Advance, we just have it in stock and get it from our distributor.

I don't know what it is, but made me think about a story one of my teachers told me about 5 guys dying in a shop because a car was burning r12 and their bay doors were all closed. They burned r14 and put it in the gas chambers for the holocaust..
