Radiator coolant problem. Plea
When my car stops and I take a look under the hood the coolant seems to me pouring into the over flow tank alot, why so much when im running like at 185 F. Now I just replaced my head gasket and got to see all the water ports, and they were all pretty rusted so I was wondering is this also what is causing the light brownish color my coolant is turning?? Somebody please help (its a 13pound cap by the way)
One more thing i dont have a thermostat in. It was running hot before and was worried it would run even hotter.

the car will heat up with no stat...napa sells some stuff that works great...you could try on tide and water but it needs to be flushed ..I would pull both hoses off the rad and with no stat run some pressureize water thru it until it runs clear then use some rad cleaner

also step up to a better cap, 15 or 16 lbs, once you are done flushing it. If there is not enough pressure on the system it will boil over a lot easier.you may have a bad fan clutch, assuming you don't have an electric setup. the light brown color in the coolant is caused by rust, so flush it,make sure you have a 50/50 mix and try to finda rust inhibitor.

Is the coolant chocolate milk looking at all? The brown color you are describing would sound like some major internal issues.. But as the other members stated, it may be rust. If it's thick and milky whatsoever...ruh roh...

Also, when you fill the system, you should make sure your engine is very cool, and you should let your car idle with the radiator cap off until it bubbles out to 'burp' the system of any air pockets.
