make sure it's motorcraft 5w20. i just learned from someone at an auto parts store, mobil1 5w20 is no good. something about it being too thick and causing problems.

I use Mobile 0w20 and a Purolator pure one filter.I also cut open oil filters and inspect the pleats for metal. So far the filters have shown no metal after the break in period.During the first couple of changes you will find all kinds of metal shavings and chunks. This is normal, the parts are just wearing in and bits of metal will be the result. You shouldn't have any more metal in the oil after 5000 mi.

Is this someones opinion or did he have proof? I have used Mobil1 for years and had no problems.

Thats crap!Who told you that nonsence?Ive used that for 15 years and never had an issue. That must have been an idiot at Auto Zone

I also think cutting your filter open on an almost stock motor is pointless. But whatever floats your boat

I use synthetic Chervron 5w20 in mine and it works fine... I was using synthetic Mobil 5w20 but it was getting to expensive. The oil change was 70. each time.. the Chevron is 50. I also go 5,000 mile between each oil change. This is just me though...

Seventy DOLLARS?Thats highway robbery!!!$5 per quart for Mobile1,$8 for a Purolator filter.6x$5=30+$8=$38 to DIY.It's worth the savings alone to go under the car and look everything over.I go 5000 mi.also but I have a 100mi commute and time in service is not a factor.

Yeah it is a rip off.. thats why I had to stop going with Mobil1. I can handle the 50. for the Chevron though.
