Default Anybody paint?

Hey, I'm looking to buy a 1995 mustang gt 5.0. The problem with it is that the paint is horrible. The person that painted it did a crappy job and now it's not sticking. It can be scratched off with a fingernail in some places like on the edge of the door! My question is, does anybody live around indiana and paint cars? Or know anybody that can do it for a good deal? Unfortunately, I really can't afford to spend over a thousand right now. Any help's appreciated.

Good question! I'm looking for someone around Indiana who may be able to paint my 95 inexpensively too!

Actually, somebody else suggested that. I'm seriously considering it, but they recommended that I prep it myself. What is involved with prepping a car? This is all new to me so I'm trying to get an idea of what I'll have to do.

**** load of sanding. Body and bondo if it needs it. Primer and more sanding.

you sand down..check to see dents..do dent repairs...bondo..sealant and primer maco may do sealant for you? i dunno

i have heard bad things about macco, i have heard thata they only do the paint. not even a clear coat, if i've heard wrong then i will go to macco and get a new paint job

Well with macco you get a few different levels of paint , some with a clear coat. The most importtant part of the paint job is prep. Go to the paint and body section on http://www.autorestorer.com/boards/
they are rebuilding the site but they know thier stuff on there.

Yeah just like Jd said they have different levels. The 299. special they have doesnt include a cear coat.. its integrated in the paint. The one you would need to go for is the 600. one which will include two seperate clear coats.

I dont recommend a cheap paint job, unless you like the current cheap paint job that is on your car. Yes, prep is very important, but so is the quality of paint applied. Your 1995 stang has base/clearcoat paint, while Maaco/Aamco paint is generally single stage. Not very durable, prone to oxidizing and not flexable. Spend more and get more. If you done have the money to spend, save up and do it right, once, or you will be spending just as much to have it repainted over and over, plus it will cost more to remove the inferior paint underneath to allow for proper adhesion and durability.
