i have a 2010 mustang, basic model with the skipper 500 system in it (ironically i have had no issues with it). But i recently bought a subwoofer/amp for some aftermarket sound, and i need some help installing it. i would much prefer to run it off of the back of the unit, but i dont know if there are some other options out there. any help is much appreciated

 

most ive seen shops and people do get a line output converter and hook it up to the rear deck speakers.
since the factory dont have any low level outputs on the back.

 

run all ur usual power/grounds/power control wires and go pick up a hi/lo converter, the converter will allow you to splice into your two rear speakers and will convert that to rca's then just plug the rca's into the hi/lo converter and the amp and you should be good to go =D good luck

i was reading on my amp and it says it has low level inputs, does this mean i need that converter still?

 

Good news! I successfully (with 4+ hours of struggling and trial n error) installed my subwoofer + amp. it feels like i can get more bump out of it. anybody know any tips/tricks on how to get it to really POP?

 

Quick answer to your second last question about a converter. Yes. The line input is low, but the rear speaker output is high, that's why you have to convert to a low output.

Last question: Check into the better capacitors for more punch.

 

You need a new head unit with a real independent output.
