65 Mustang Question. HELP
My boss bought his wifes old mustang from Highschool and fixed it up. However, the new exhaust system may be getting too hot because on a hot day, the starter wont kick over after you turn it off. Is the modifed exhaust the problem? Is this a common issue on the 65 mustang and how can it be fixed. He wants to take it to a mustang guy in San diego area who has fixed a similar problem.
The car will start if you let it cool down on a hot day. If it is cold the car has no problems and will start right after turning it off. Any suggestions?
Thank you, I apologize if I didn't describe the problem well enough please let me know if you have any other questions which would help solve our problem?

You'll get more responses if you post in the Classic section. But it's probably an issue with the starter itself. It's not that uncommon with them because of the giant clunky(crappy) starter they used that would get hot, and rub internally as it expanded from the heat, so the rotor would contact the stator. A late model mini high torque starter works just fine.
