Default radar detectors?

95stealth302, yup Valentine 1 is the way It out performs the competition in range etc. I've had other radar detectors from the bargain basement price to the highend, and only the Valentine 1 performs up to what it says it will do. Not too many products in the marketplace that will do that. I have an Escort before and was disappointed in the way in just beeped all the time. It was hard to distinguish between "false" alarms and the real ones..it just beeped!!! Very irritating so you just ended up turning the damn thing off!!!! Valentinme 1 has strength signals indicators along with an audio fluctuation so there is no missing a "bogey!!!" The only improvement on the Valentine 1 that I'd like to see other than a price reduction, is for a better looking package. It is rather boxy looking...OK I guess the Escort gets the nod in the looks department...LOL..!!!

1. Valentine One

2. Escort Passport 8500

3. Any Whistler

4. crappy cheap ones

Valentine One is absolutely the best detector on the market right now, which is why it's 400 bucks. I had a Whistler 1660 for a year, then it started acting up...every time I'd go over 4500 rpm in my Escort, it'd set off a Laser warning. It was pissing me off, and then itgot stolen October of 02.

I think that radar/laser detector is the way to go. Since im in south florida, I don't have to worry about hills. However, my first radar detector had some serious damage when the batteries in my black radar detector, in my black GT, with Black windows, melted inside the detector.Oh well I'll get a better one and hope that it works. Does anyone reccomend one? Preferably one that can stand SERIOUS heat exposure.

Default radar detectors?

I have a Cobra ESD-9110 and I used it on a recent trip from North Carolina to Florida. The speed limit was 70 and every one was running 85. Around every turn it seemed Troopers were stopping people. Everytime my detector gave me warning in advance. I didn't rely on it, but it was a great tool to let me know what was going on. I agree with you guys in not depending on it as a tool, but now I won't drive in a car without one.
