Default Brake Light and Shift Interlock System not working

I have a 2002 Mustang V6. My rear brake lights and shift lock actuator are not working. I checked the voltage to the brake switch (light green w/red stripe) and it was getting voltage. Now here's the real problem - there's no voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. I replaced the switch (one I bought from Auto Zone) and there is still no voltage getting to the red wire w/light green stripe when the brake pedal is pressed. I looked in the back of the Haynes manual and checked the wiring and fuses in the brake circuit and everything checks out ok. I unhooked the brake switch connector and used a jumper wire to see if the rear brake lights would come on and activate the shift lock actuator-still nothing! Yesterday I replaced the brake switch connector, thinking maybe a connection had burned or came loose-still nothing! Checked for continuity on the brake switch(when the pedal is pressed)-YES! BTW I used a test light and multimeter to confirm that there was no voltage. Did I miss anything?
