Overdrive

RE: Overdrive
Overdrive is just an extra gear, for fuel efficiency. If you're going up a hill, or want to pass without punching the gas, drop into drive (or turn off OD, whatever is applicable), otherwise, leave it in OD.

RE: Overdrive
That is basically how the auto manufacturers are meeting EPA standards for mileage. I still think most 6 and 7 speed trannies today are overkill. Who wants to have the car shifting constantly. Too much muscle in some of the newer engines to ever hope to meet EPA without these ridiculous new trannies. Only an opinion as I have never really had a chance to drive a 6 or 7 speed transmission yet. Bottom line, you don't need to use overdrive until you are out on the highway or going at least 55+.

What's the big deal? You don't use those gears till you're on the freeway, then you just drop it there and leave it. No hassle or extra shifting, really.
With gas prices the way they are, I think most people appreciate having that extra fuel saving option!
