Default Anyone know with a 96-98 Headswap if a newer computer will work?

I was just wondering if you can take a 99 PI computer and put it into a 97 GT without a lot of modification. Seeing as how most of the parts are interchangeable, and the interior is almost identical, do you think the newer computer would be able to plug in to the 97 harness without modification..........or little modification? I just thought it would be easier and maybe a better option if it would work than trying to program/dyno-tune the computer. And if it would work , do you think that since there is a slight increase in compression over the regular PI that it would really make any difference? I thought I would also be able to continue to use my Superchips programmer if I did it this way too? Does anybody know for sure what the outcome would be? Has anyone tried this with good/bad results??

I would imagine the stock computer would work.I dont think the interior has anything to do with the computer but the heads shouldnt change anything on the computer

I guess what I was trying to say with the computer is that it looked like they really hadnt changed alot except vehicle skin and knick knacks, so I thought it would probably be the same computer with updated programming. I was thinking it might respond better to the change than trying to dial it in, not to mention you can still use things such as your programmers, etc. By the way, sweet car!!

The only thing I can think that would be a problem would be plug wires. 97 has plug wires and 99 has Coil On Plug design.

I wonder if that would make a difference or whether the computer just wants to send a spark, etc??

I don't think anyone has been brave enought to try this one. I would call Hypertech, Predator or Diablo and see if you can talk to one of there technicians. Or put it in and let us know the results we'll let you be our guinea pig.
