Default 69 mustang brake problem

NEED Help. I have a 69 mustang & it came with power disk brakes. I now have a 351 w with a large cam & took the whole power brake booster off to make it manual brakes. The rod from the brake pedal does not seem to lock into the back of the new master & I am afraid it can fall out very easy. Has anyone here gone through this & what can I do to fix this problem.

Thanks for any help.

The cheapest and easiest thing would be to put the booster back in and cap the vaccuum port. It will still work with out a problem through the booster just wont have any assist.
