Coil is sparking but not plugs.
So i recently ran into a problem with the pony. Died while i was driving it. I checked the fuel pressure and it had none. I replaced the fuel filter and now it has fuel. It still wouldnt start. i pulled a plug out and grounded to chassis, no spark. I then bought and installed a new plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, and ICM. A plug wire from the coil to chassis will spark. So pretty much the is spark going into the brand new cap but none out. I have tried two caps and two rotors. I did notice the spark from coil to chassis was slow and not very strong. I have checked the cap and rotor with a multi-meter and there is continuity everywhere. I am so lost. the rotor is turning while cranking. The coil and ICM arent grounded to the chassis, they are just plugged in and hanging. Is there a component of the Ignition system i am missing here? I am totally confused why there is spark to the cap but none coming out....... thanks in advance
I checked the center post with a multi-meter and it has good continuity. The plug are gaped at .035 i believe. I am however not getting any spark through the wires to even matter what the plug gap is. The new coil seems to have a weak and slow spark. I am not quite sure how the coil gets its signal when to spark. I know the car doesn't have a crank sensor. What component runs the ignition timing? Holding the coil to the frame causes a very small weak spark about every 2-3 seconds.
