Default Bank 2 too lean....

What the heck does that mean?!

I got my check engine light diagnosed and they said that my bank 2 was too lean. This means nothing to me! Can someone please explain this and tell me how I can fix it (well not me personally but my dad)? I'm a little afraid that that may be a expensive diagnosis!

Bank 2 is the driver's side of the engine, and lean is the oxygen sensors saying that that side of the engine isn't getting enough fuel. Fixes may include fuel filter change, or new o2 sensors.

Also it could be leak somewhere close to the cylinder head so that more air is getting into the intake on the #2 side than #1.You can spray WD 40 around carefully and when the idle changes you are close to the spot that is leaking.Cracked intakes are not a stranger to Mustang forums.

First, how much do o2 sensors run and can my dad and I replace them (he's somewhat of a mechanic....he's replaced starters, radiators, etc...basically, how easy would it be)?

Second, WD40 will not hurt the engine? And if it is a cracked intake, how much does that run (I'm kinda afraid to know)?

Thanks, for the help!

WD-40 won't hurt the engine.O2 sensors aren't that expensive or hard to change, just let them soak awhile with some kind of penetrating oil to loosen them up.(preferably overnite)I read somewhere that Ford reached a settlement about cracked intakes. If I find this info i'll repost. That didn't take long!!!It's a sticky in the 4.6 specific forum on this website.

O2 sensors run bout $40-50 a piece. What kind engine do you have? The pic looks like a V6.

Yeah, its a V6 3.8L.....I'll have to try the WD40 trick and I'll report back. I hope that its just an o2 sensor.....
