Replacing a cam
I know this is a Mustang forum, but I have been reading here as a guest for a while now, and always find answers to my questions for my 1995 Thunderbird without even posting a question. I hope I am not breaking any rules asking a question about my Thunderbird here?
I have a 95 Thunderbird with the stock V8 4.6 motor. On the passenger side timing chain on the top sprocket under the valve cover that is connected to the cam the bolt that is holding the sprocket on the cam broke. I bought a timing chain kit and have got everything took a part. On the cam where the sprocket goes it is worn, plus the bolt is broke off in the cam. I have another cam that came off another 95 thunderbird, is it ok to just put the used cam on my car? is there anything else I need to do? Oh I already put all the new timing parts on my car too. I am just not sure about putting the used cam on even though the used cam looks to be in great shape.
I apologize if some of the terms I have used is not correct, I am really not too technical when it comes to cars, but I cannot afford to pay someone else to do the work for me and I don't need to be in a hurry since this is not my only car. Thanks to everyone on this forum. like I said this forum has been a great help even without posting questions, cause normanlly all my questions are answered by just reading and searching here.
