I'm not sure and am completely guessing here, but I wouldn't be surprised to see premium is recommended for the GT', 2011's.

Just filling it up with a higher octane gas is wasting your money if you don't have a tune.

If you had a GT (which is recommended for 91-up), and filled up on regular 87, then you would have problems. But the 2011 V6 has the same recommendations as the 05-09 sixes...87 and you're good. Otherwise, you're pissing money away.

Yeah, I just read in Motor Trend that the GT calls for premium, hence the HP loss if it is not used. The V6 calls for regular, so just stick with regular from your top gas stations.

I think more important to know about using less than the recommended octane is the possibility of detonation, an engine killer.
