Pontiac G6 question
Yes I know it's not a Mustang, but I figured I would give it a shot. My mom has a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT that's started making a strange noise in the front end. It's only audible when going 30mph+ and have the radio off or very low. It's hard to hear unless you know about it, but it's definitely there and something is wrong... It sounds like a deep hum mixed with the sound you get when you put a card slightly into a fan/bicycle wheel. It varies with speed as well, I believe it's in the drivetrain. Once its at about 45mph, the sound doesn't change, but when you slow down it gets deeper and deeper and you can't hear it after you have stopped. I rotated the tires and the sound stayed in the front so I've almost ruled them out. They are said to have wheel bearing issues, but I'm not sure that's it, I've never heard one sound like that. Anyone know what else to check?
We've already had one wheel bearing replaced and the steering rack/pinion... This car has had it's share of problems, as have a TON of people apparently. The bearing problem was so bad the first time, it was on back order for 2 months.
It's alright... not my car, but it's like a ****ing reject car. It goes through tires in an instant, I believe it was wrecked and now it can't be aligned properly (pass. side tires wear WAYYY more than the drivers side) and then the bearings, steering rack and pinion, there's so much...
