If you noticed my screen name you may have picked up on Ranger and Jake. I am Jake and I drive a 1992 prerunner Ranger with long travel suspension. It has a 4.0 OHV with A4LD. The reason I started my account here is I need two things and I hope yall can help.

I can't find any information on the shifters that Mustangs equiped with A4LD auto came with. I want to convert to a floor shifter but I don't really want a race shifter. Did the 4.0 Stang have a floor shift or column shift?

If this exits I want to buy one. Or maybe trade something I have lying around that you may need. I have already sold off most of my extra but I have a couple things in the shed. Anyone have one they don't need?

 

No Mustang ever had a column shifter. Check the wrecking yards for auto shifter assemblies

 

I think I read that 87 and 88 Mustangs with a 2.3 L4 are the only Mustangs to ever come with the A4LD auto trans. Can anyone confirm this?

so who wants to sell me a stock style floor shifter from one that came with an A4LD then? who's is gonna be?

 

87-93. But as far as I know (as Greystang said) they were all floor shifters on the Mustang. So if you have a Mustang with a column shifter (I think thats what you were saying in your 1st post?) I'd say someone must have done it themselves. but yeah, again, as he said, time to visit the local junkyards.
