Default OHC VS. push rod

which is easier to make big power on the over head cam design or the push rod engine? i know push rod tend to run a lot bigger as far as displacement so its easier to make power that way but in general which is the easier route to go with?

Pushrod. Mainly because it's cheaper and simpler. If money or complexity were no issue, then OHC wins out, but it's vastly cheaper to build power in a pushrod engine than an OHC engine.

A lot depends on what kind of racing you're doing. Drag racing and pushrod is king, for the $/hp ratio. But in class racing you're often required to run the engine the vehicle was made with(Grand Am etc) or a certain spec engine etc.

There was a nice article in Road & Track about the Camaro SS pushrod engine vs. the DOHC 5.0. Check it out, it's a good read: http://www.roadandtrack.com/auto-news/tech/rival-vees

that was a good read. it helped out a lot. i guess my question now would be if anyone is running a push rod motor in a s95 and if so what was in installation/conversion like?

If you mean sn-95 then the '94-'95 cars still had the pushrod 5.0L factory.

Up to a point then it's about the same price/complexity wise

you can use all the mounting hardware and brackets from the 94-95 gt 5.0l. Just make sure you have the k-member and ALL 5.0L brackets and pullies and a longer belt.

lol, yeah that's true. But at that point it's entered the realm of the ridiculous anyway.
