Default Remote Start Stopped Working

I have a Clifford 50.7x matrix alarm and remote start. I had it installed in April this year and it was working fine. It stopped working a couple months ago. I can take it back to where I had it installed and they could fix it, but I wanted to see if it was something I could do so I don't have to waste time taking it back.

When I press the start button on the remote the cars lights come on and is about to start, but the ignition never turns over. It tries a couple times and nothing.

Any idea what it might be?

Thank you!

Ignitions do not turn over. The starter cranks the engine, then the ignition provides spark to the spark plugs.

I think what you are trying to say is it cranks over but does not run.

Remote start controllers will send a signal to the starter. Once the engine cranks it will also have ignition. Once the controller sees ignition running, it will release the starter.

My guess is it's not getting a run signal. Most older stuff tapped into the tach wire for this signal. Check there.

Does your car start right away with the key? Or does it crank a little longer than it used to? The remote starter will only send the signal for a short amount of time.

Yeah this is what mine is doing. You can hear the fuel pump, but its not cranking or turning over or anything.

It turns over as fast as it always has with the key and my push to start ignition. I had the push to start ignition and the alarm/remote start installed by the same place at the same time. Worked for 2-3 months and now the remote start won't work.

I'll have them look at it and let you all know what they say.

Ok, so what happened was I had to reprogram the.. key module? The thing that "copies" your key so you don't need a key to start the car so the remote start will work.

If you disconnect your battery, you have to reset the key module (Sorry I don't know what it is called).

hmmm...Must depend on the model. I had my battery disconnected for 40min when I installed my fogs, didn't have to reset it.
