1970 mustang coupe missing engine
I have the opportunity to purchase a 1970 mustang coupe. I still need to check out the frame but the engine and trans are gone.
It was a I6 but if I get it I would like to swap in a v8 probably 351. The car will cost me less then 1k.
How doable is this or am I just asking for a huge problem?
I am not hoping to finish it over a weekend; but I don't want to regret a purchase for something I will spend more money modding it to fit then just keep looking for another option.
I just lost out on the 69 coupe and now my name is wrong ....the guy couldn't find the title after I won the ebay auction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ummm so why did he even try to sell it ?????
Thanks for your advice on this,
Steve

RE: 1970 mustang coupe missing engine
Not really what I had in mind. I want to keep the stock look but put in a v8 and trans.
The question is what is needed to drop say a 351 into the spot of the I6 250 for a 70 mustang coupe.
I know the springs but what else ...I can get a motor and transmission from a you pull it junk yard for about 200$ but will need to get it dipped. What motor should I look for to bolt in.
I have been told fords are notorious for costing less to get but swapping engine and transmission are a nightmare. Just want to have my ducks in a row before I buy what would end up being a waste.
Thanks

id go for it definitely back in those days many parts were interchangeable and you should have no problems at all being as 70' stangs came with 351's from the factory anyway just get some motor mounts and rock on "year one" would be the best source for restoration parts and i like "summit racing" for all the go fast goodies

You'll need motor mounts, springs, idk what all is removed in the transmission area, but you'll need a dual hump tranny crossmember to fit the dual exhaust... The list goes on... Oh ya lol you'll also need a transmission and an engine j/p
