Edelbrocks require less wrench turning to tune(metering rod changes are faster than jet changes), they're reliable, good for daily drivers. But, they all suffer from the inherent Carter AFB design flaws, primarily a weak accelerator circuit, so they suffer throttle response problems. They also use older technology in regards to boosters and metering systems.

Holleys on the other hand require more wrench turning to tune, but modern Holley designs use much better booster and metering tech, and with double pumpers you can get break neck throttle response. And with the use of more advanced metering blocks, the emulsion packages can be tuned to a specific vehicle.

A modern double pumper Holley type carb with annular boosters and a custom metering system will blow an Edelbrock carb out of the water in terms of performance every time.

Predators are meh, if you want a real single barrel, look at the new Pro Systems SV1. It's new within the last few years.

They usually do, if you get a good one.

If you're going to spend that kind of money on a decent 393 rotating assembling, you're doing yourself a disservice by going short on the carb. Holley and Holley-based carbs are the way to go. There's a reason a majority of dragracers use them. Get yourself a nice AED/Prosystems/Quickfuel/Proform and never look back.
