Newer engines (like yours) can retune itself to work safely with whatever octane you put it in. You engine will not tune itself to accept the performance benefits of the higher octane, but it is safe to put a higher octane in at any point before the tune.
Of course... It is always better to have it tuned.

Correct. We ran 89 octane on a 800+RWHP GT500 that normally takes C16 because we absolutely had to one time. It's fine, as long as you don't operate the car under heavy load.
If you get something for the fuel system, get something that has an PEA base. Like Redline SI-1 or Amsoil PI, Techron Concentrate, and Gumout with Regane to name a few. That should help clean the injectors and valves and anything else it touches.
