Just inherrited (one owner) 66 Mustang. Will crank with little coaxing but when i put into gear motor dies..any advice? thanks

 

First the cheap things.Check the fuel filter.If the car has set for a long time the carb might need rebuilt.One or more of the jet passages might have been clogged by varnish from evaporated gasoline or dirt from the gas tank.The fuel pump could also be ready to give up the ghost.If the car will rev freely out of gear then i'm kinda lost.

 

All the usauls...Plugs,cap,rotor,wires and a fuel filter along with a carb clean and you should be all set

 

One more thing,get fresh gas.
