Default RE: Check rear end gears

Well I tried it and I could even get the driveshaft to budge. I was reading about how to check and it also said that if you spin one tire and the other goes backwards then you need a rear end rebuild or you have an open dif. Well I couldnt move my tires in gear but in neutral I could spin one tire and the other spun backwards. Time for a rear end rebuild? I guess i'll have to find an option b because I can not figure out what gears I have in my car. I guess I'll just have to rip them out and start couting teeth, and then throw in a LS rebuild kit since I'll have it apart anyway.

Well I feel really dumb. I couldnt move my tires because I was supposed to check it in neutral not in gear. Well anyway I took some pics of my butchered exhaust and heres what you've all been waiting for........
First time checking rear-end without chalk on tire(in order to get 1 rotation without eyeballing it) but with chalk on driveshaft I measured alittle over 3.5
Second time checked rear-end without chalk on tire and it came to right about 3.75(I know I know its not 3.75 its 3.73 but Im saying the driveshaft went around 3.75 times.
Third time I chalked the tire and driveshaft and got right at 3.75
Forth time with chalk on tire and driveshaft it was right at 3.75 and last but not least
Fifth time with chalk on tire and driveshaft It went 3.75 again......
I know this isnt exact but it was def. over 3.27 and both tires did spin the same way not sure what I was looking at first time. So I guess hes gonna be spoiled when my brother buys a 96-98 GT because up till now when he test drove it to see if he wanted a GT we both thought it had the stock 3.27's in it.
Happy Days

Now where can I pick up one of those Steeda speedo gear things that go into the side of your tranny to fix your speedo?
