Default Where do I start

I have been on this forum for I think about 2 weeks now lurking threads all the time, hoping to gain information. I think I am learning some but what most people are talking about with cars I don't understand because I don't even know the basics.
Parts that are easy for most to understand I don't even know what a piston is, heck I can barely tell how to tell how much tread is on a tire.

Basically where do I start? How can I grasp the basics so that I can understand and talk cars? I've tried wikipedia for a lot of stuff but I get a bunch of mathematical equasions for horsepower and stuff and it's like to much at once I need something that explains the basics for like kids or something since I don't know cars.

Any suggestions or websites?
