I have been having a problem whenever i let go of the accelerator after reaching 2500rpm it backfires as well as a small puff of white smoke comes out of the tail pipe. Any suggestions would be really helpful!

It's probably an air leak somewhere in the exhaust system.The closer to the engine the more chance of getting a backfire.
