Default Having Electrical Problems with speedometer, tip odometer, and mileage counter.

1998 3.8L v6 Ford Mustang

Hi, i recently tried putting in a stereo head-unit in my car, and forgot to unplug my negative battery terminal to prevent any short circuiting throughout the car. I messed up, and had a few wires cross that shouldn't have. And since then I've noticed my speedometer, trip odometer, and mileage counter is no longer working properly. A lot of research that I've done showed that its probably a fuse somewhere. I opened up every fuse box i could find in the car, i found two total, under the hood and under the driver side dash. I looked at them all, did a continuity test and they all checked out okay. The next thing I was planning on doing was taking apart the dash and getting to the cluster, I've been told there is a small gear behind there and a few electrical plugs, I'm thinking that maybe one of them shorted out somehow? and if they did, is that something i have to purchase a whole new cluster? All my other gauges work on the dash but those 3 things. Also my power locks only lock, and not unlock, my dome light no longer turns on either. All this happend at the same time. I'm not sure if it's doing it now. But it was turning on my tail lights and front amber lights on when i hit the unlock button of my car.

I'm hoping someone out there might know something about the problems I'm having. Lately I've been trying to figure out what it all is, i even went to O'Riley's and purchased a new speed sensor, popped it in but still nothing.

Thank you GREATLY to whomever can help me out,

Dylan

On what connector?

I'm not really sure which ones it was, I wasn't being to smart and didn't cap the wires, i think i might of crossed a 12v battery line from the vehicle with something that was running with the head unit i was trying to put in. After it happend, i heard an arc from the wire harness, I'm not sure if 2 wires touched or if the 12v battery line touched the metal head unit casing. Then the day after i noticed the 3 guages i listed were no longer working.
