Need help installing remote starter
Try starting? PATS indicator flashing?
Wait, wait, wait...
Did you have the second key programmed for your car at the dealer? Is it valid on it's own? 2 valid working keys already programmed into the PCM, that is what is required. As in their transponder codes have to be valid in the PCM. Which only the dealer could have done since you didn't have a second key.

You paid $100 for the factory key that's cut to your car and has a transponder, sounds about right, but unless they're really cheap that didn't include the usual 1hr minimum labor charge(for 15mins) for programming the second key to the car, likely it's reading the transponder signal from the other. Try them one at a time, keeping the pkall OFF/disconnected, and only having 1 key on your person anywhere close-by when trying to start the car.

It may be incorrectly programmed already then. In which case, return/exchange, try flashing to latest firmware revision, and/or speak with a xpresskit.com tech.
This cheaper model only lets you program it once. So if it thinks it valid, you don't get a second chance. Not sure how this would happen however, as it should only occur after it gets the proper response from the PCM saying it was valid.
Edit: try plugging in the other connector first when programming.
"P.13"(actual pdf page 14) of the generic install guide encompassing all gives a different plug connecting sequence and tells you to hold in the program button again after your done, before you go to try and remote start the vehicle as the last step. So, possible the mustang specific one is wrong.

I tried plugging both sequences. I never did see it flash 10 times. I believe the first time I tried it just came on and I was puzzled why it came on right away. I also tried to push the button until it flashed like I saw in a different manual. I'll look at yours and try that if it's different.
Something that I think might be important is that when I insert the key without the PKALL plugged in, the security light eventually turns off, but when I have the PKALL plugged in, the light just blinks.
EDIT: forgot to mention it is the security light on the dashboard that is blinking

Briefly flashing once every two seconds is normal when you don't have the pkall powered and that one line grounded, or a key in it (KOEO, Key On Engine Off).
Are you keeping the ground while running line disconnected when trying to program? It can not be grounded by the remote start or manually when programming the pkall.
