chopping the top
If your'e looking just to repair damage as in rollover,it's probably a total loss. But if your looking to chop the top to lower it,it would look great. On a scale of one to ten it wold be about eleven. It could be done but there are a lot of angles that would have to be matched up.The top would have to be lengthened to match up to the A pillar and then the windshield and rear glass channel would have to be modified to hold the glass. That brings us to tha glass itself. You could either use plexiglass or have a special order tempered safety glass made.I have no idea how much this would cost.About a two or three inch drop would look, well, sinister.I saw a Lincoln Mk VIII with a three inch drop on the Lincolns of distinction website a couple of years ago and it looked great. It will take a lot of time and money but if you have enough of either it could be done.Good luck.BTW it might be easier to start with a convertible.
i guess i should have been more specific. This is a 66 mustang coupe. it hasnt been rolled or anything and from looking at it it doesnt seem like it would be to hard. My dad owns a sheetmetal shop so ive got access to welders and all kinds of sheetmetal tools. i think that the hardest part is goin to be finding a junk mustang to get the top off of.
To each his own but I don't know if i'd chop a 66 because of the limited supply of the older cars. After all the car IS a classic. On the other hand, they chop antiques all the time and they are my personal favorites.
the reason im going to chop the top is because it is very rusty. I really havent decided yet becuase i dont know if the rust can be fixed or not and i dont want to screw someting up by chopping the top off and ruining my car
