Sometimes when I start the car the odometer and warning lights don't come on and then blink back on after a while. Its a 2000 model 3.8L what could this be all about ?

 

Sounds like it could be a wire short or maybe a fuse trying to go out, more than likely a short somewhere though or loose battery cables. If it was the fuse then normally it would just go bad at once, but I have seen them go in and out. Check to make sure you have good battery connection and if it still happens you might really have a problem. Tends to be a pain to find a short.
