Default Scared!!I Really need help! Oil % Won't go up(stays around 50%)

Ok, When i purchased my 2011 mustang gt 5.0 it said 86% oil life so first off , anyone know why it didnt say 100%?(oil percent shown on the dash when you check out the system) But 86% is ok, but from there it was steadily decreasing alll the way down to 54%! so i thought maybe a leak? needed a top off? so i decided to just go ahead and change my oil (8 qts-amsoil 5w-30) and change the oil filter. I noticed to OBVIOUS leaks at all...After oil change i pressed "reset" on the system check button and 54% still showed as my % oil!!!! Waited a day, woke up and now it sais 52%. wtf? but it does still say oil life ok, but its showing as 52%......Any answers? a little scared considering brand new oil, brand new filter, please help.

That isn't the % of oil left. I'm pretty sure it's just a % based on the number of miles it's been driven since it was reset.

Try holding down the reset until it says 100%

It's an oil life meter and I really hate them. They are useless since they only use mileage and/or start cycles as the means to indicate oil 'life'...

How many miles were on the ar when you got it?

Read the owners manual. It will tell you all about these useless new features and how to reset them, what they "mean" etc.

Lol. I haves a Lincoln and it has that feature that tell u what life percent the oil is at. It's simply for use as a reminder to get your oil change once it does go down to below 10 percent. No cause for alarm.

Yep. My dad's 09 Sable has a similar display that shows things like the oil life. When I took it in for an oil change the dude showed me how to reset that...though I don't remember exactly how but it was probably that simple.

Its nothing to worry about. Your owners manual should tell you how to reset it and even set it to a mileage that you want it to remind you (like 3000 instead of 5000...)

They are a nuisance and are supposed to be a reminder to those who cant remember when to change their oil based on mileage. Nothing more.
