I hope the title gets some attention!

I am looking to buy a vehicle to tow behind my motor-home - towed vehicle hence toad. I think to get the Mustang to work best and cheapest, it will have to have a 5 speed and be older than the 2005 model, although I love that generation of Mustang best.

What I have found from blueox.com is that they make baseplates for the 93 and earlier models and the 99 and later models. I found information from wikipedia that there was a slight change from the 98 to 99 models. What I would love to get from someone here is were there any changes to the front frame that would otherwise make a baseplate kit from the 99 and later not fit the 98 and earlier models? As fate would have it, I have found a 98 Mustang that would easily fit what I need.

 

Why older than the '05 if that's what you like? Tow baseplates are available for the '05-up. Blue ox has one: p/n BX2186.

Being newer the prices can be a bit higher used, but if you shop around you should be able to find a deal.

 

05 and up Mustangs automatic or manual are not towable 4 wheels down according to remco.com.
