Mustang GT as a tow vehicle

I'd still be wary, just because an S2000 can pull a two wheel trailer with some tires on it doesn't mean an S197 can pull a +2000lb trailer loaded with another car.

OK guys I took your advice and traded in my GT for a 2006 Explorer Limited V8 with towing package and four wheel drive. I missed the versatility of my 1996 Explorer XLT AWD V8 and just wanted another Explorer.
I liked my Mustang and hated to get rid of it but I already have several "useless" passenger cars I can't pull or haul anything in as it is and the Explorer just met my needs better.

Absolutely you can tow. My '13 V6 manual 6 spd has a hitch on, only rated for 2000# though and I have taken my newer 5x10 enclosed trailer to the lumber yard and got 168 16' long pieces of siding in it. (had to leave the ramp door down and strapped to stay off the ground) This trailer weighs 900# empty and was likely right at that 2000# with the siding. I have also hauled the small open motorcycle trailer with it with 2 bikes on it and hardly noticed it was there, It was less than 1000# total weight then.
But it isn't always a great idea.
That said I have towed an enclosed 6x12 v nose trailer with my 89 Saleen Mustang for over 15,000 miles of the 120,000 I owned that car without any issues (besides a 25% loss in fuel mileage)
The trailer weighed 1100# and fully loaded it often would be about 2500# total weight. I did wire it up to work trailer brakes

I was looking at. 69 Lincoln continental a few years back. I looked in the trunk and what did I find? A gooseneck hitch. Apparently the guy pulled his 24 foot cattle trailer behind it. Any things possible.
I would've liked to have seen that rig coming down the highway though.
