Question Need opinions

Recently My 2007 mustang started running real crappy one morning for about 10 minutes while on the way to work, then just as fast as it got bad it started running fine again, threw the p0012 code i believe which i looked up and it appears to be the vct solenoids.well it ran fine for a couple days then today on the way home did the same thing just not quite as bad and didnt throw a check engine light or anything.anyone have this happen to them?I have read into it a little and some people say the alternator, but im not sure why it would run crappy then fix itself,it has me puzzled.any help would be appreciated.

Are you running 5w-20 oil? I've had some late model fords come into my shop running terrible after the customer changed their own oil and put in the wrong weight. The heavier viscosity threw aff the way the variable valve timing solenoids reacted to the computer command. Changed it back to the 5w20 and problem was solved

i had the oil changed a few days ago and i have had no problems since then.I cant say if the shop put the wrong stuff in it before but it has ran so much better now with the new oil it makes me think there was heavier oil in there.definitely a learning experience.
