regular or premium?

regular or premium?
It's been a week since I drove my 2013 GT off the lot. The salesman that sold me the car filled it up with regular gas, 87 octane. He said he has a 2012 GT and runs regular with no problems. I've been driving it for a week now and it sounds great, no knocks or anything. But I'm down to a quarter tank and I'll be filling it up soon. I know the book says (recommend premium gas) but if I keep it at 87 octane, will I have any problems in the future? Thanks.

You won't have problems per say but you will lose some hp (they say 12) going with 87 gas. I use 93 myself so I'm used to the buttrape at the pumps, but if you use 87 and want to save money just stick with it and forget about it.

You will never hear the motor ping because the ping sensor will retard the timing until the pinging stops. What you will notice is a loss of power. The more the timing is retarded the less power the motor will make. Th higher octane fuel will be much less likely to cause the motor to ping and therefor it will make the maximum power it was designed to make with the factory settings.
My advice: Use 87 when driving like a commuter car and save money on the cost of 87 compared to 91 octane fuel. If you decide to race it or want to be hard on it fill it with the good stuff.

Whoops, I meant 93. Since I've filled her up with 93 i haven't noticed much of a difference. But it has less than 250 miles on the odometer and I'm taking it easy. But today I did pass 3 cars at once with ease and still didn't tach it out. And i was grinning the whole time.
