Default 2006 GT Problems..

If i accelerate and let off the gas, then hop back on again to accelerate the car will hesitate and the exhaust will pop and knock. Its not extremely loud but its definitely noticeable. Also, if im cruising the car will shift into a high gear, before 2500rpm and when i accelerate in the gear it shifts to, it knocks and the car stutters and shakes.. Any ideas whats wrong? Just started doing it today.

Automatic or manual? Sounds like an automatic. Sounds like a transmission problem given the unintended shifting issues. Check the tranny fluid level. If you haven’t changed it in the last 60k miles, it is probably due. I’d start there... Good luck...

Yes automatic, could the transmission cause the exhaust to pop and hesitate like that?

I’m not sure. But, in theory, if the tranny isn’t shifting when it should then it would be in the wrong gear resulting in the rpms getting too high or low (depending on if the gear is too high or low) which can cause weird problems.
