Hmm, sounds like a computer problem then. Strange thing about that kind of diagnosis is that I really can't recall any computer sensing device that would have RPMs dependant on clutch placement aside from starting the car.</P>
Ha, I just thought of something. If it jumps and stays there, does it also do it at other times? If so, then it's a vacuum leak. Could still be vacuum leak if it just does it while shifting, and actually I think this is the best bet. Check hoses and EGR stuff with some soapy water spray to see if its leaking or not. I know Ford had a problem on the 5spd Focus when they came out with the computers. Inadvertanly the automatic computer code iniciated and/or was installed in the car. When you shifted the REVs would climb about 500rpms. made for jerky upshifts.</P>
Lightened flywheels occasionaly do this but not when you are sitting still and they usually drop revs super quick.</P>
I would have the computer checked by a dealership for what program is in it.</P>
