I just bought a new 2014 Mustang V6 Coupe and it's running fine except at toll booths it won't shift into 1st or 2nd. Weirdly enough, it's only happened at toll booths.

I come to a complete stop at the toll, and I am unable to shift it into 1st or 2nd gear as if something is blocking it. Shifting around into the other gears doesn't seem to help unlock it; it causes me to put it into 3rd and usually stall out. I'm getting pretty sick of this.

Is this a common issue with 6-speed gearboxes or something? I never had this problem with my last manual (2011 Accord).

 

how many miles are on the transmission, sounds like the syncro's are gone for first and second. how does it shift if the car is moving (1'st to 2'nd).

 

No, it is not a common problem/issue. 2014 should be under warranty. Make and appt to get it fix, at your Ford dealer as soon as possible.
