RE: 2000 mustang gt
I have the same problem on my 96 GT. I changed out the engine coolant temp sensor ( located on the first intake manifold crossover, next to the stat.) Then I replaced the CCRM( located inside the passenger side fender well, you have to take out the plastic fender well thing to get to it, its a little black box) and that didnt fix it eighter. So I swapped out my PCM(Powertrain Control Module) Sometimes called ECU with my brothers 96 GT PCM and it fixed the problem. I havent purchased a new PCM yet but when I did the swap it fixed the problem and then I put mine back in just to drive it around for awhile. I would do the sensor first since its like 5 bucks then the CCRM and then if nessasery do try a new PCM. That will fix you up and get you running as good as new.
