Default Fox body, 1989 Tranny tunnel clearance.

Hi, hopefully a question that's been answered before, and please point me in the right direction/thread if so. I have a 1989 LX coupe that I am putting a rebuilt 5.0 with a T5 tranny into. Once into the body I am seeing very tight clearances on the passenger side of the T5 tranny to the transmission tunnel, i.e. Its actually touching the tunnel. At first I thought maybe I had the trans cross member in wrong, but I double checked and it is correct, even if I wanted to put it in the opposite way theres just no way it would fit. I double checked my engine mounts, thought maybe one of them was off but seems to be fine. Is this possible because it used to be a 4 cyl? Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
