Default Something blew up!!

Hey guys, I haven't been on here in awhile with college starting and stuff, but something messed up happened to my GT today. I was driving around town and as i accelerated I heard a loud POP! and then my exhaust started to sound like it wasn't connected to my headers. Basically it sounded like I was driving a harley. I pull into my dorm lot, pop the hood, and one of my coil plugs has blown up and isn't connected to the spark plug anymore. First of all, how the hell does this happen and I'm taking it this has to do with my exhaust sounding messed up? I'm kinda confused on how this happened, what to do about it, and if it's safe to drive around at all, at least to get if fixed. Thanks for any help.

Something else too.... I just went out to look at it with a friend, and when I started the car up the spark plug shot out of the engine and hit the hood. The tip of the spark plug had been bent back into the plug. My friend thinking that at rod might be loose which is what hit it. So now I'm freaking out that my engine is really screwed up now...
