Default flood GT

I saw a 1999 GT online that was in a freshwater street flood, that said it had water about 3 inches above the carpet. It said the engine will not start, and is sold in as in non-running condition. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what the biggest problem would be in fixing it to make it run again. Perhaps any ideas what got fried, what got water in it that there shouldn't be? etc, etc. Thanks for any info.

here's a hint...if the only way you can own one is if it's flooded then you don't need to even bother. body work is ok if you know what to do, but i wouldnt want to mess with a flooded car

I wouldn't mess with a car like that. Too much crap can be damaged, unless he's willing to take the car back if you can't get it started....</P>

If he had a cold air intake and started the car while it was in the water, good chance the motor is locked up like a maximum security prison. </P>

A million sensors could be fried...</P>

If your crazy enough, I know would at least have to drain all the fluids, change the plugs and wires. You might have to take the lower intake off and drain the water out. and blew the intake portsof the heads out with air. God knows what else. But there had to be more then 3" of water above the floor for the car not run.

hey your in luck i bought a 99 cobra at an auction it was flood damgaged and wreked. if its never been turned over since flood like mine was its probely ok. but will have to pull the plugs see if motor turns over.to get water out also you will have to pull the intake off the motor it holds water in bottom of it so if you dont take it off you will suck more water in after it starts up.my bro. in law found out the hard way in bent 2 rods in locked motor up.i repaired for him. dont forget to drain oil ,change couple of times with cheap oil /filter. but if motor dont turn over with plugs out i bet it have some bent rods. will have to take motor out. mine went down into a dicth whole ft. end was under water 2 days till wreaker could get out.sa far as electronics go i didnot have any trouble there except for inst. cluster.was bad dont no if your intake on a sohc.will hold water in it or not.check with other people to see .both of these where cobras.contact me if you need more info. P/S if price is right .got mine for $7200.00<edited><editID>hotrodman</editID><editDate>37975.919375</editDate></edited>
