Default 302 torque converter confusion

So I am swapping a 302 into a mustang ii, I have posted a few questions about that here but I need more specific engine information.

What I have found is that half way though 1981 they started making the 302's 50 oz balance. Since I have a C4 trans I want to go with a pre 1980 302 for the 28 oz. That part I understand. The question is I need a smaller bell housing (157t) the fit in the mustang ii. I found a 157t flex plate and a 157t flex plate bell housing. How do I know which size torque converter to use? Not talking the stall, like how big the bolt pattern diameter is and how many spline? The mustang is a 1978.

Thanks for any help that you can provide, I want to get this thing on the road so I can taker her to school the last few days!

Thanks again to anyone that helps.
