1966 Mustang 289 2-bbl
Would I gain much of an increase in performance if I converted my 2-bbl to a 4-bbl on my 289 Mustang from 1966. If so, approximately what would b e the total cost if I had a garage do it? Thanx.

Yes, you would see a nice increase in the feel of the performance. A carb is around $250+, intake is another $200 or so plus labor of a couple hours. I have run both Holly and Edelbrock carbs in the 600-650 cfm size and aluminum intakes with a med rise. Do some research on the performance differences. You also might want to upgrade to a free flowing exhaust to gain more performance from the carb and intake.

I had a 68 302 that I upgraded the 2bbl to 4bbl and it made a signigicant difference.
As for having a garage do it, you can do it your self in a couple hrs its pretty easy.
I got my intake off of an old 289 intercepter at the junk yark for 25 bucks , cleaned it up and painted it , then dropped a 650 edelbrock on it. big big difference, and the sound the engine makes when you open those secondaries up is sweet.
Just take your time and make sure all mating surfaces are clean and use some rtv around the coolant ports on the intake both sides of the intake gasket.
